Scripture: Hebrew 11:2
For by it the elders obtain good reports.
Today, we want to throw a little more light on faith. We saw that faith is not just a confession but a tangible evidence of our expectations. We moved further to learn that there is a dimension of faith that makes stubborn situations bow.
Now, for today, we want to look at the acts of faith. We have repeatedly said that faith is the evidence of our expectations. This means that when we hope for something, faith becomes the piece of our hope and the evidence of our expectation. You can touch hope, you can hold expectations but faith said am the holdable and touchable piece of your hope, meaning, faith is the real deal.
How do we act faith in face of emptiness, rejection, sickness, and many more? Our scripture reading today said “by it elder obtain good reports…” How then do elder obtain good reports by faith? To obtain good reports means to command thoughts provoking results. It means that they had more than enough results to be counted among elders. If you read from verse 5 of Hebrew 11, it explains in detail the acts of faith. How Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, how Enoch worked with God, how Noah heard from God, how Abraham was called unto an inheritance, and many more. These are just few elders I mentioned here, and I am sure you are familiar with the stories of these elders, who through faith obtained good reports.
The acts of faith is starting a journey to greatness in mind but no particular destination in mind.
“Abraham, leave your father’s house” To where? A place he can’t tell. Yet he embarked on the journey with no destination. That is the act of faith. Faith necessarily don’t have to know the place to go but believe that he who call will never lead you astray. Faith demands that you act before you ask. Faith is when you are asked to build an ark, even when you are aware of the mockery that your act might result to, but your faith still say go when if it doesn’t seems normal. The act of faith is taking God’s word, running with it, even when it seems unreal.
Today, get up and take a step. Your victory is about to be announced, don’t seat on your dreams, wake up and go for it. Your time is now, don’t take the doctor’s report, get up from that sick bed and receive your healing. Don’t accept that error in your family, it is surely the time to win over all your battles. Start now, take up your faith and run to your testimony.
