Scripture: Luke 22:6
And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
As we continue to observe and celebrate the events of Easter, it is important to reflect on some very important incidents that transpired this season. One of them was an act of betrayal. History have it that betrayal was what facilitated the capturing and eventual killing of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s quickly look at this act called betrayal this morning and see how it’s still affecting lives and destinies today then see how we can best deal with it.
The story goes that Judas betrayed the son of God. Now, who was Judas? Judas was one of the disciples of Jesus Christ. He was very close to his master Jesus Christ. Judas was known to have a reputation with money, always wanting to steal. He had sought an audience with those who had seek Jesus, he told them he was ready to deliver Jesus to them for a prize. The first thing we know from this story is that it only take those close to you to betray you. You will agree with me that you can’t be betrayed by someone you don’t know and as a matter of fact, it is called betrayal because it is usually orchestrated by a very close person to you. The second thing we learnt from the story of Judas was he kissed Christ to identify him to his enemies. It tells you how close and free Jesus was with Judas.
Listen, the one who will betray you sometimes won’t come bearing horns. They might come smiling, but deadly, they might come with kisses but their intent is evil. As we reflect on betrayals this morning, I decree that anyone in your life with an intention to sell you to your enemies, reveal your secret to your enemies, be exposed by fire this morning. God will separate you from them and from today, betrayals will and remain far from you in the name of Jesus.
