Scripture: Luke 23: 21
But they cried, saying, crucify him, crucify him.
A quick reflection on the greatest event in history, a story once told so passively, omitting the debt and the soul, a story of a man who became a ransom for the act of other who careless about him, a man who left his exalted throne to die as a common man for an act he was actually innocent of, a man who bore the pain and the anguish of death, crucified like a common criminal, beating like street thief, hated by the same people that once sang his praise, abandoned by the very people he share bread with.
It is Good Friday, a day you will call dark but an event that rewrote the very essence of mankind.
As we reflect on this special day, what truly happened on that day? How come Christ had to subject Himself through the interrogations, accusations, humiliation, and even till death? What held him back, he could have called legions of angels to come rescue Him, was the nail truly strong enough to hold him to the cross?
Beloved, after a deep reflection, I came to my conclusion that the event of Good Friday was neither the priests, nor Herod. It wasn’t even about the governor nor the whip he had to endure. It wasn’t the crowd that chanted “Crucify him! Crucify him!!” The cross was not powerful enough to hold back the son of God, IT WAS DIVINE LOVE.
The pain of Good Friday was the pain of Divine Love, endured till the very end because of love. He allowed the humiliation because of love, He endured the torture because of Love, it was the pain of Divine Love. He pained through it all, it was all because of Love. Today, as we remember, I desire that you rest in that Love according Jude:21 – Keep yourself in that Love, anytime you remember His Love, be assured He got you no matter the what and whatever the situation is, His Love will speak for you. Congratulations.
