Scripture: Romans 9:16
So then it’s not of him that willeth, nor him that runneth, but of him that sheweth mercy.
Many times we are quick to ascribe to ourselves certain the victories, praising our efforts for certain results. I was counseling a man not too long ago, as we where praying, I saw a cloud of limitation hanging over this man’s head and I quickly told him what God was showing me. He nodded his head and smiled. He then said to me: “Pastor, I actually like the way you started the prayers, I was enjoying myself and feeling the impact, but you are wrong to mention a cloud of limitations.” I asked him why he said I was wrong? He said “…Because, I am actually doing very well.” He went further to say, “I agree that there is a family battle in my family but I think I have broken free to be enjoying this kind of financial blessings.” I asked him what did you think you did differently to give yourself an advantage? He replied and said: “I worked very hard. I was determined to breakout and I worked towards it and here I am today.” I smiled and said to him, congratulations but that hasn’t excuse what am seeing, there is a cloud of limitation and the testimony you have now are suppose to be your starting point. I was quick to add that his victory has nothing to do with effort but pure mercy. Mercy is a force that rescues men from captivity. Mercy is an advantage you have while you approach God. The scripture said: “It is not of him that willeth, or him that runneth…” Many a time, you are quick to conclude if I do this or I do that, the battle will end.
To break out of any captivity, mercy is your sure way. Effort will only carry you through how far your mind can cover, but to walk and overcome certain problems and captivities, mercy is your option. “…It is of the Lord that sheweth Mercy.”
Mercy is the answer. Today, that mercy is speaking for you, in all areas of your life. I decree an end to every form of captivity in your life and family. Today, the snare is broken, you have escape.Be free forever by the of God. Hallelujah!
